Protein Recovery
Protein Recovery, Purification and Analysis
| Our protein recovery and analysis team has extensive experience in extracting, purifying and evaluating proteins and has applied this to the development of efficient, effective methods for recovering functional proteins from insect larvae. Following physical disruption, host debris is removed by a combination of centrifugation and filtration, including a final pass through a 0.2 micron filter prior to chromatography. Purification protocols are developed for each protein, varying standard protocols as necessary. Depending on the physical properties of the target protein, a variety of biopharmaceutical processing methods are used, including ion exchange, size exclusion and affinity chromatography. |

Standard protocols developed for whole larval extracts typically yield initial purities greater than 90%, which frequently is sufficient for preliminary physical or functional analysis by the client. Depending on the client's need, our team can conduct optimization studies that increase both yield and purity.
